Capacitive Reactance and Admittance Calculator
In alternating current (AC) circuits, a capacitor offers a specific form of opposition to current flow that changes based on the frequency of the signal. This calculator allows you to determine how effectively a capacitor performs in your circuit by calculating its reactance and admittance.
Key Calculations Explained
- Capacitive Reactance (X_C): Measured in Ohms (Omega), this represents the opposition to the flow of alternating current. Unlike resistance, reactance is frequency-dependent; as frequency increases, X_C decreases, allowing more current to pass.
- Capacitive Admittance (B_C): Measured in Siemens (S), this is the reciprocal of reactance (1/X_C). It represents the “readiness” or ease with which a capacitor allows alternating current to flow through the circuit.
