SMD Resistor Code Calculator
This tool provides a rapid way to decode the marking systems used on surface-mount resistors. Because physical space is limited, manufacturers use condensed numerical and alphanumeric codes to denote resistance values and tolerances.
Use this tool to:
- Decode Standard 3-Digit Codes: Found on 5% tolerance resistors where the first two digits are the value and the third is the multiplier.
- Decode Precision 4-Digit Codes: Used for 1% tolerance resistors, utilizing three digits for the value and one for the multiplier.
- Translate EIA-96 Alphanumeric Codes: A specialized 1% precision system where a two-digit lookup code (01-96) is followed by a letter multiplier.
- Handle “R” Decimal Markings: Correctly interpret codes like 4R7 (4.7Ω) or R010 (0.01Ω) used in low-resistance and current-sensing applications.
