IGBT Power Loss & Junction Temperature Calculator
This calculator helps you determine if your Insulated-Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) and thermal management system can safely dissipate the heat generated during high-power switching without exceeding safe operating limits.
Use this tool to:
- Calculate real-time power dissipation, combining Conduction loss VCE(on) and frequency-based Switching energy losses Eon + Eoff.
- Select the correct cooling strategy (e.g., TO-247 with a finned heatsink vs. liquid cooling) for your specific collector current and frequency.
- Identify thermal bottlenecks and decide when a lower VCE(on) module or a more aggressive thermal interface material is required to prevent thermal runaway.

Thermal Warning:
Junction temperature exceeds 150°C. High-power IGBTs often require liquid cooling or massive heatsinks.
